A New Start and a Day to Remember~

I've been tossing the idea around in my head to start blogging again. It has been about three years since I have written a post. I came back through a few months ago and read the posts from then. My how things have changed. So I have decided that I would give it another shot. Another perspective at a different time in life. We will see how this goes, if I keep up with it or if it another attempt that falls at the wayside.
Jacob actually gave me some of the inspiration to start blogging again. You see, he has started two blogs of his own. The first one is for his middle school. He wanted a place that his classmates could view, with pod casts and updates of what is going on at school. His second blog is about him and his life, more of a personal perspective. I am looking forward to seeing how his blogs transpire. I will be interested to see if he keeps up with them for years to come.
Today is September 11, 2011. The tenth anniversary of when our world stopped turning. When the world trade center, the twin towers fell to the ground. I remember the day vividly and will never forget. Jacob and I were at home getting ready for our day. He was playing in the living room watching cartoons when the news broke in to tell us the the US was under attack. But, when I went into the living I thought Jacob, 1 at the time, had changed the channel. I thought it was a movie. I was frozen, watching and wondering what I was supposed to do. I called my dad after the first plane hit. I needed him to tell me it wasn't happening, but he confirmed that it was in fact our country under attack. A couple hours later I dropped Jacob off at daycare and headed into work. Everyone was in the break room, surrounding the tv and watching the events unfold. The phones at our desks were ringing, but we were engrossed in the news. We couldn't focus, we didn't know what would happen next, or if the rest of the US would be under attack.
We went to war soon after that, to put up a fight against the terrorists that threatened our lives, our freedom. My brother Levi has fought in this war four times in the last ten years. He deployed time and again with his fellow troops, to defend our country and protect our freedom. Just last month he was honored with the Bronze Star. For his courage, leadership, and for his bravery.  Too many troops have lost their lives. Too many families have lost their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, etc. Our lives will never be the same, forever changed and always affected.

To those that lost, to those that fought and to those that defend our country still; thank you.
